BLOOM is the first plant-based plastic foam that is partially made from algae biomass. This algae is a renewable resource and comes from lakes and ponds with a high risk of overpopulation. Algae help maintain an ecological balance, but when they overgrow they can damage water resources and the life in them. By filtering overgrown algae from these water sources, we help mitigate negative impacts on the environment. At the same time, by producing plastics from this biomass, we reduce our dependence on oil, which, unlike algae, is a non-renewable resource. We return the purified water, from which we remove the algae by filtration, back to nature, thereby keeping the ecology of lakes and ponds in balance.
