BLOOM is the first plastic foam of plant origin, which is partly made of algal biomass. These algae are a renewable resource and come from lakes and ponds with a high risk of overgrowth. Algae help maintain ecological balance, but if they multiply, they can damage water resources and life in them. By filtering out overgrown algae from these water sources, we help mitigate negative impacts on the environment. At the same time, by producing plastics from this biomass, we reduce our dependence on oil, which, unlike algae, is a non-renewable resource. We return the purified water, from which we remove algae by filtration, back into nature, thus keeping the ecology of lakes and ponds in balance.
