Help where it's needed most with the VIVOBAREFOOT Soul of Africa collection
A wise man once said: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
This is also the philosophy behind the Soul of Africa project, in which the VIVOBAREFOOT brand is involved. It makes no sense to just send money to charity, which, while needed, will not guarantee a long-term solution to problems in African countries such as poverty and hunger.
Providing people with jobs that feed them and help them create value is the core message of Soul of Africa. VIVOBAREFOOT shoes from the Soul of Africa collection are made in Ethiopia by locally sourced and locally employed workers, mostly single mothers and families affected by AIDS. A portion of the proceeds from each shoe sold then goes back to charitable projects in Africa, such as building schools and hospitals and supporting orphans whose parents have died of AIDS.
