Like all leather products, leather caps cannot be washed (the leather would lose elasticity and unsightly cracks could appear). We therefore recommend wiping with a damp cloth (the sole with a soft brush), or with a little soap, and letting them dry freely (not near heat sources). Or better still, use leather cleaning products that are specifically designed for leather, which you can then use for other leather shoes you buy for your children. For example, there are special cleaning foams (leather soap) on the market. Leather tends to be a little harder after contact with water, but just rub the dry soles between your fingers and they will be soft again after a while
